No wheels good?  Might want to crank on a little bit more downforce.

Happy Friday, Oppo. Who’s ready for the weekend?

This has been another rough week with work. I am sooooo ready for the weekend. Unfortunately, we have a 90% chance of rain tomorrow and an 80% chance of rain Sunday. I guess I’ll have to stay inside and practice holding down the couch.

I love this shot! Those early aero cars were absolutely wild!!!

I am ready for the weekend, or what I get of it. Sunday I’m driving from DC to Indiana for work.

Which actor’s voice wa s in your head as you wrote this?

When I read it, my brain channeled Jay Baruchel (Hiccup in How to Train Your Dragon).

Those couches can get pretty ornery sometimes. Good luck with that. I’m hoping we get all the rain. It’s been a very dry month.

I could use a good road trip right about now. Our family has a tradition of putting 3,000+ miles on the van in the summertime. Haven’t done that in a while. This summer was going to be a flyaway vacation, but of course, that didn’t happen.

Sounds good. My van needs two tires, then an inspection, then registration. The registration was due back in April.

Trying to think if I’ve ever watched anything with this trope featured; I only really know it from the meme.

My wife and I usually take our vacation around Thanksgiving - for the last few years we’ve gone to Germany to visit my sister and brother- in- law, or met them somewhere. In 2019 we found out my wife’s best friend, who lives in France, was going to have a baby in November so we decided to wait until this spring, go to France to meet the baby, and then meet up with my sister and BIL in Italy. That clearly didn’t happen, and it’s looking more and more like no vacation in 2019 or 2020 for us.

I love road trips and am looking forward to this, but at the same time it’s still a bit stressful. Working for the Navy, I have a lot of extra restrictions in place that normal people don’t have to deal with. For example this trip has to be straight out, straight back, no stopping other than for gas or necessities . Not that I imagine any cool attractions along the highway are open, but still.

I also have 3 trips lined up after that, 2 of which are to very remote work sites and they are being extra careful about those, I’m going to have to “ROM” (Restriction of Movement) which means I literally can’t leave my house, can’t see friends, family, etc. I can’t even stop and pet other people’s dogs when I’m walking Ozzy. (I could actually care less about seeing other people, but not getting to pet cute puppers is like a dagger through the heart).  They are at least reimbursing us delivery charges for groceries and such.  It also means a lot of time to work on house and car projects!

NOAA says Hanna will be sending a little bit your way over the next few days.

How would they know if you pulled over and checked out a National Park or something for a couple of hours?

Mostly to the south, though. Optimistic models predict 2-3" for us. Reality is probably more like 1-2" at most.

I’m not sure what sub-class it falls under, but it’s pretty common, especially on serial TV. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NarratorTropes

Morning.

That’s a great pic

My weekend is looking sweaty.

Digging out the sod is the hard part right?

They wouldn’t know , but the onus is on me to do the right thing. A park I could maybe get away with since it’s outdoors and easy to maintain distance. The risk, though, is that if I do get sick, I can’t support the next couple trips, or worse yet, get other people sick and really hose us.

Awwww yeah it’s Friday!! Just had a career topping week (I’ve only been in it for 3 years but still) after an absolutely terrible month at work. Planning to cut my grass at lunch, finish the day strong and then head to the beach. I haven’t seen salt water since February, which is highly unusual for me, and am very much looking forward to it. It’s a sort of out of the way place and the weather is supposed to be iffy so here’s to hoping we can keep it distant... if not my ass will be on the porch taking in the views and reading a good book.

I also downloaded FlightRadar24 last week after learning about it in one of your posts or comments and am excited to ID some of the planes that buzz the beach while I’m there.

Cheers... now when is 5:00?

Front tires are pretty knackered. They might just pass, but I want new shoes anyway. This is for my 2003 Odyssey.

I really like FR24. I just wish it showed military flights (or at least the ones that are announcing their presence). For that, you can use this site:

https://tar1090.adsbexchange.com/?icao=a7e20a

Click the U at the top and it only shows military/government flights. Zoom out and the list on the right shows you everything in the frame.

Enjoy the beach! I haven’t been in years.

We’re looking to have sod laid down in our back yard this fall, along with sprinklers. That can’t be very expensive, right? Right?

I did just get the front struts replaced, so maybe that’s not such a terrible idea.  How do those do on 3k mile road trips?
